Jacqueline Fernandez, a Sri Lankan actor from Bahrain's Manama was born into an ethnically diverse family. Jacqueline's dad Elroy Fernandez is a Sri Lankan. Her siblings include two brothers and an older sister. Her family was born and raised in Bahrain. Her parents moved there in the 1980s as a result of the turmoil within Sri Lanka. The schooling she completed was within Bahrain and she was awarded a Scholarship for an education at University of Sydney. There she was awarded a Media and Communications degree. Having a passion for the world of languages and cultures, she took part in the Berlitz school of languages where she learned to speak Spanish and improved her French as well as Arabic. In 2006 she was named Miss Sri Lanka. Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2006 in March 2006, and was also a contestant in Miss Universe 2006. After her winning the 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone made her debut on television and hosted a show about Sri Lankan Business named Lanka Business Report. Padukone (the mother of badminton player Prakash Padukone) was born and raised in Bangalore. As a teenager, she participated in national badminton competitions, but quit the sport to become a designer. Padukone's mother tongue is Konkani. The model is Mangalorean by origin. Padukone Village is situated within Kundapura Taluk within the Udupi District of Karnataka in India. Prakash Padukone is her father as well as a former badminton pro of international fame. Her mother works as an agent of travel.
